OVER 4 GENERATIONS OF EXPERIENCE
LA Foundation Repairs is owned and operated by a fourth generation house mover, Justin Roy. I owned and operated the family house moving business for close to 10 years and have decided to branch out from the family business and have put all my focus into lifting and leveling houses along the Gulf Coast in the state of Louisiana and Texas. I have invested heavily in new jacking equipment designed to lift large pier and beam structures and smaller slab homes (under 2500 sqft) above the base flood elevation(BFE). The jacking machine, the jacks, and the experience all come together to get your biggest investment out of harms way and above the water line. Worrying about the nightmare ever happening again is exactly what we fix. Our team and our equipment has lifted, leveled, and moved over 500 homes since 2008. Trust 4 generations of experience and our 19 jack unified jacking machine to lift and level your home.
HOUSE LIFTING AND LEVELING MADE EASY
Step 1. Schedule a Site Visit
The first step in any house lifting or leveling project is to schedule a site visit with a professional. We have tried to make this step as easy as possible, simply fill out the contact form and schedule a site visit 24 hours a day using our contact form. We check jobs most Saturdays and Sundays and have given you access to our calendar. Find a time that works for you and us both. If many people schedule appointments back to back then there may be some adjustments made on the day of the meeting. The program doesn't know where your house is in relation to the other appointments so please understand that the time slots aren't set in stone.
Step 2. Order an Elevation Certificate
Order an elevation certificate from a licensed surveyor, if you are in a flood zone. If you aren't sure, then be sure to call the local government and have them check their flood maps. They can usually tell you on the phone. They often have a list of licensed surveyors that you can use to get your elevation certificates, if not then we have a list of licensed surveyors at our office and can put you in touch with one of them in your area.
For lifts involving flooded houses, it is important that an elevation certificate is ordered prior to the visit. The elevation certificate is used to determine how high the home must be lifted to be out of harms way and satisfy the requirements for lowered flood insurance policies. Surveyors in the town know what the adopted base flood elevations are and will leave a benchmark for us to use to determine the types of foundations that we can use to support the home.
Step 3. Determine the Scope of Work
The initial meeting is a good time for the homeowner and the house lifter to access the scope of work and determine the best approach to use to get your home lifted and leveled above the base flood elevation
Often times engineered foundations are used to support homes that are required to be elevated more than 39 inches above grade. We will discuss the options available once the benchmark is set by the licensed surveyor. We will work closely with the engineers to be sure to come up with a plan that best accommodates the codes, the installation crews, and the homeowner. We have lifted some homes over 17 ft above grade along the bayous of Louisiana and many at an elevation of 8 ft above grade to accommodate crawfish boils, covered parking, and high water. Let us lift your home out of harms way.
Step 4. Foundation Type
We, La Foundation Repairs, can put the homes on piers, pipe, timber, brick, cinder block, or concrete columns. All foundation types have their advantages and limitations, the engineer will make sure that we are not overstepping those limitations. At times the flooring system of your home is stiffened to allow for the spacing of the columns to be widened for covered parking, storage areas, or outdoor living rooms. The space and the columns can be designed to be used efficiently and look aesthetically pleasing from the road.
Step 5. Determine a budget for the lifting project
If its a competitive bid and your goal is to get it up as cost effectively as possible, then that is important to know and we hope that you share that with us. It may seem crazy for the contractor to want to know a budget since the contractor normally gives the price, but there are so many variables in the type of foundation that could be built that a budget number needs to be brought up. When asking a home builder for a price to build a home, the homeowner most often has a set of plans to bid. The homeowner has spent time and money with the architect to iron out every detail from paint color down to light switches holding both the contractor and the home owner accountable for the end product. It is no different when lifting a home, except that we don't have a plan or any real details.
Let us know what you want, and what you want to spend. We will be sure that you don't overspend on your wish list and most importantly get your home lifted safely and securely at a reasonable price.
Step 6. Schedule the lift and level

"My dad left his house when he passed away. It was a very old house, and we suspected the foundation was in poor condition. We had LA Foundation Repairs perform a foundation inspection and help us determine how to safely restore the house. I appreciate his help and what he did for us. Professional service, timely, and reliable." - Evan K.
The foundation of your home may sink or settle over time due to erosion or other changes to the ground beneath. Sloping or slanting is a key indicator that your foundation has shifted from its original position. In order to ensure even distribution of the weight of the building and prevent structural damage, it may be necessary to re-level your house. For significantly weakened or unstable homes, shoring can help to temporarily restore structural integrity.
"We have had a few small floods in our house over the years. When we had a foundation inspection done, we were advised to correct some drainage problems to protect our house. We listened to the advice and so far we have not had any problems and it seems to have helped a lot. LA Foundation Repairs corrected our drainage issues and raised our home above water line. Justin provides excellent service and care for his customers." -Sheila B.
Elevating a house above the flood plain is one of the best ways to ensure you avoid flood damage in the event of a hurricane or natural disaster. This can be done by separating a house from its foundation and raising it to the appropriate level then rebuilding the foundation underneath. House raising can also allow a home to be moved and relocated if necessary. Our foundation experts will make sure that your home is safely lifted and securely propped up and supported during any foundation construction work.
HOME ANCHORING AND TIE DOWN
For pier and beam homes or manufactured homes, the threat of lifting or shifting from the foundation is a constant concern during a hurricane, tornado, or flood. Anchoring and tie downs are necessary to secure the home to the foundation, and combat against lateral wind force and uplift. LA Foundation Repair can help you ensure that your home is properly secured and protected against flooding and high winds that can cause destruction and costly damages to your property. We have an engineered system that is designed specifically for your wind zone and is custom designed by the engineers that work with us.
