If your home has recently been flooded and the grant money comes in before the you have started to rebuild then at times it makes sense to separate the home from it's foundation.  When this happens, bricks are often removed and the home owners are staying at another residence.  The moldings are removed and large i beams are passed just below the braces that you see in the picture above.  The anchor bolts are unfastened, the house is lifted and leveled and a floor is built to support the walls.  It is a very labor intensive job and takes a bit longer than a slab lift but provides an alternative to the slab lift.  Often times the slab separation method is used when the home needs to be lifted more than 5 feet above grade.  The allows the homeowner space to park cars, host crawfish boils, etc. on the houses old slab.
